Rest in Peace Dearest Gummi – 11 February 2012
I have called you by many names, “Gummi to the Tummy”, “Gum Gum to the Tum Tum”, and my favorite, “Satu Mata”, which you have affectionately answered without fail.
I may be hard on you at times, but I’m sure you know how much you were loved at home by both Mel and I. It’s been a while since I last cried, and my tears flowed today with my wife in my arms when the doctor said it’s best we put her down.
She hasn’t eaten for over a week, lost lots of weight, only 2kg in the end, had mouth ulcer, rotten tooth, bleeding gums and an ulcer towards the back of her mouth, in addition to her failing health due to her kidney giving way.

I had this experience twice before and you think you’d be stronger for future tough decisions like this. Nope. I tried keeping composed in front of my wife who was in my arms crying, while tears streamed down my cheeks, seeing Gummi on the doctor’s table, pale and weak.
R.I.P. my dearest Gummi. You are free from suffering now.

Hi, so sorry about your pooch. and such a lovely one too. I share your grief as I’ve lost a beloved cat before. It was so hard to accept that we couldn’t bear to take in another pet for a long time.
I am now having a cute shihtzu dog except mine is liver colour and is really a joy to be around. There is nothing like a dog loyalty. Hope it will be with us for a long time yet.
Once again sorry for your loss. RIP Gummi.
Thanks. The pain of losing a pet is the same as a loved one for sure. No matter how many times I’ve already experienced it, I still cannot come to grips on it.

Thanks Amanda. I still tear every now and then today. Our house feels so empty without her. Sigh.
