A Soul-Searching Christmas in Perth
Armed with memories of a week in Kota Kinabalu, a few books in my hand and my own songs being hummed in my mind, I boarded the flight to Perth with family members despite not how I thought it would be. I was at the cusp of an inevitable life-changing decision. The thought of it was daunting but it made me numb with positivism.

For the first time, I never really embraced my holiday, as I kept my cards close to my chest, trying to accept what I’ve been dealt with and how I’m able to turn the tables on victory after playing my move. I became immersed in myself finding comfort in my own songs that I’ve written all those years ago with Jon Bon Jovi’s “Not Running Anymore” leading my mind’s playlist.

The thought of gallivanting to explore Perth escaped me as I pub crawled in the city as well as Fremantle, sampling Fish and Chips. I never liked the dish, simply because whatever I tried, be it in Malaysia or the UK (Birmingham), it was forgettable. Until I found Lures, a small Fish and Chips shop by the side of Canning Highway, it was sensational.

The clarity I found through reading Jermaine Jackson’s biography about Michael Jackson, took me away from the Australia to Indiana and California as I never put the book down, I even read it drinking Guinnesses at an Irish pub in Perth city called Durty Nelly’s.

I won’t be going anytime soon to Perth as Melbourne still remains my favorite Australian city. One thing that’ll change my mind though, is a Bon Jovi concert. ![]()

Perth has always been a lovely place, beautiful and the Fish&chips is amazing right.
Yeah, but I prefer Melbourne though.
Oh gosh. You’ve just changed my mind about visiting Perth. May be I should go back to Melbourne then.
