I flew business class to Jakarta recently and it was surreal. The traffic jams are from a different level altogether and the people are generally nicer than Malaysians. The commute between the official hotel (Sari Pan Pacific) to the Royale Jakarta Golf Club is approximately 20km – between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the “macet” – traffic snarls.
From the mid March to mid May, I shall be calling Jakarta my home as I have been assigned to be part of the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters 2013 tournament organizing team, one which I am relishing. This is my longest stay away from KL and much needed to regain myself.
There’s a Clark Hatch at Sari Pan Pacific and I intend to make full use of it by hiring a personal trainer to get myself fit again, during my stay there. There’s also a cinema and eateries next to the hotel and I’ll surely be quenching the movie bug in me.
Another plus is that the caddies at the Royale Jakarta Golf Club are ladies! There’s over 300 of them and they all needed to meet a certain criteria to be able to become caddies – physical attributes. It feels great to be on the receiving end of staring smiles and definitely refreshing to have more ladies than men this time around.
